Viochar has partnered with Aarhus University (AU) to submit a project proposal to Denmark’s Grønt Udviklings- og Demonstrationsprogram (GUDP), a national program supporting green development and demonstration projects in the Danish food and agriculture sector.
The project aims to draw out clear, actionable lessons on how to produce the highest quality biochar using our retort. Rather than relying on theoretical models alone, the research will be grounded in real data collected directly from our testing farmers, giving the findings practical relevance from day one.
Specifically, the project will examine how key input variables affect the quality of the resulting biochar. This includes the type and composition of biomass used, its particle size, and its moisture content, as well as how the material is packed within the retort during processing. By systematically analyzing how these factors interact, the project aims to identify the conditions that consistently produce the best results.
The insights generated will feed directly back into how we guide farmers and future users of our technology, helping ensure that everyone using a Viochar retort can achieve strong, reliable biochar quality from the outset.
